Japanese Box is an effective option to choose for a glossy green hedge or screen. Hardy and fast-growing, it clips into a neat formal hedge, and is excellent for topiary projects too. Plant two or three plants per metre for the best result. The most appropriate Buxus variety for hot/humid areas. Part-shade to full sun is the optimal light requirement. It will only require supplementary watering during the establishing period, and in drought conditions. Fertilise when you plant or if leaf-yellowing occurs.
